Political Science
Graduate Admissions
|
Students are ordinarily
admitted to begin the Ph.D. program only in the fall quarter of each year. (We
do not have a M.A. program.)
- All applicants are required
to submit test scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within
the past five years and official transcripts of all college work.
- Letters of recommendation and
the statement of purpose are seriously considered in the admission decision.
- Applicants from non-English
speaking countries must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
as part of their application, and applicants from non-English speaking
countries who wish to receive funding as teaching assistants or receive
fellowship support must also take the Test of Spoken English (TSE) exam.
Applicants from non-English speaking countries will not have their
applications processed for review until both GRE and TOEFL scores are
available; and will not be considered for fellowship or TAship support until
TSE scores are available.
- Undergraduate training in
some field of social science is customary, but not required.
- Full consideration will be
given to applicants with prior work experience or interrupted studies.
- Students are urged to
complete their applications by January 15 to be considered for
financial aid.
